Morning takes an acclimatization hike to the famous Taksang monastery popularly known as the Tiger’s Nest, our national icon. Taktsang monastery is Bhutan’s most revered temple.It is perched on the side of a 900 m cliff above Paro valley. According to legend, Guru Padmasambhava is said to have flown here on a back of a tigress from Singye Dzong in Lhuentse, to meditate in a cave where Taktsang now stands. It was from there he propagated Vajrayana Buddhism that was prophesized by the Buddha at the time of attaining Nirvana.The hike to the monastery makes a splendid half-day excursion. On return to Paro, visit Kitchu Monastery is the one of the oldest and the most sacred temple in the Kingdom, dating back to the 7 th century. Overnight hotel in Paro.

Drive to Haa through Chele La (3988m). From the pass, you can see Paro valley on one side and then Haa valley on the other. You can also have a picnic at Chele La if you like to. In Haa, some sightseeing and then going to Katso village and visiting the Lhakhang Karpo. The valley of Haa was only opened to Tourism in 2001 and Haa is the least visited valley in Bhutan due to the lack of Tourism insfrastructure. This has helped in keeping Haa the way it has always been, with Bhutanese families living their traditional and simple life. Overnight hotel in Haa.

6 KM | 3 HOURS | 450M ASCENT | CAMP ALT 3150M

We begin our trek by walking gradually uphill through a blue pine forest and farmland. As we climb it gets a little steeper and we walk along streams past rhododendron, juniper, spruce and birch trees. Linch served in a grassy meadow and continue to our camp at 11,800 feet about 43 minutes below Saga La pass. We will take an afternoon hike up to Saga La for views of Sacred Jhomolharo (24000 feet) and several other peaks. We will have panoramic views of the Haa valley. Overnight camp in tent.

9KM | 6 HOURS | 700M ASCENT | 250M DESCENT | CAMP ALT 3850M

In the morning, we hike once again up to Saga La and then follow the ridge up and down to 13,200 feet and we may be able to catch a glimpse of Taksang Monastery from here. Continue steeply through dwarf rhododendron and down through narrow grazing paths. Camp at the Ningula in a rhododendron forest from where you will have a beautiful view of the peaks of Jhomolhari and Jichu Drake. Overnight camp in tent.

11KM | 6 HOURS | 500M ASCENT | 360M DESCENT

Climb steeply back up to the ridge and cross the Kale La at 12,900f, with its views of Paro and the Haa valley. Weather permitting, we will have a terrific view of the Paro dzong and surrounding peaks including Kanchenjunga (28,208 f), the third highest peak in the world. Continue climbing up to Kung Karpo at 13,500 feet, with view s of the mountains and both valleys again. Descend and traverse toward the Chele La (13,300 feet). Along the way, we pass a place where Mahayana Buddhist offer their newborn child to God: the Bhutanese do not participate in cremation and believe that if they offer their child to the God after their death, they will be born again very soon. All day today we will have clear views of the mountains and the Paro and Haa valleys (weather permitting). Once at the Chele La, we meet our vehicle and drive to Thimphu (3 hrs).

Full day of sightseeing in Thimphu valley. Visit the world’s tallest sitting Buddha (51 meters) at Kuenselphodrang, Visit Art and Craft school known for its painting and the traditional medicine institute where indigenous healing arts still practiced. Also visit Handicrafts Emporium. Exotic weaves in wool, silk and cotton, basket ware, thangkas and other traditional crafts of the Kingdom are available here. Overnight hotel in Thimphu.

Breakfast at the hotel and drive to Paro International Airport (1hr). Snow Lion Travels representative shall escort the group right to the airport for safe departure.
