Narandra Modi, Prime Minister of India visit’s Bhutan (11-12 Nov, 2025)

My visit to Bhutan has taken place when the people of this nation are making various landmark programmes. It is the 70th Birth Anniversary of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo, the Global Peace Prayer Festival is ongoing and special Buddha relics from India are here.

The outcome in sectors like energy, healthcare and connectivity will add momentum to our bilateral partnership. My gratitude to the people and Government of Bhutan.

I am grateful to His Majesty the King of Bhutan, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk for coming to the airport as I board for Delhi.

Context of the Visit:

  • Celebration of Fourth King’s Birthday: The visit coincided with the 70th birthday celebrations of King Jigme Singye Wangchuk, a significant event in Bhutan’s history.
  • Inauguration of Hydropower: PM Modi also inaugurated the Puna Tsangchu II hydropower project in Wangdue Phodrang, highlighting the ongoing cooperation between India and Bhutan in energy development.
